This isn't the big official Sunday Drive for the week, that will be yet to come. This one is more of a vignette. Think of it as Sunday Drive Lite, with half the calories. And today is Thursday, just to make sure you're paying attention.
I took a lot of pictures on my recent trip to Boise, tons of cool signage that you'll see soon, some awesome architecture and even an abandoned pet cemetery so you've got a lot to look forward to. And while driving around looking at things, I began to notice them. They were everywhere. Proudly polished and some descending into patina- it didn't seem to faze them, they all came out to play.
I'm talking about the pickups of Boise- thirty, forty, fifty years old and even older- still in everyday use. A North American equivalent of the Taxicabs of Cuba, pickups in Boise never die, and never go out of fashion. Chevy seems to be the favorite, Ford is close behind. A few Dodges and the odd International Harvester. Even a pair of really cool old Stageway Airport Limousines.
