thoughtful gift

While I'm on my Dick Van Dyke kick, here's a fabulous Christmas Ad from the show reminding you that the holiday gift that keeps on giving is.....cigarettes.

Wow, Mom, you shouldn't have!

These are called "roll-ins", where the ad appears to be part of the show. They were invented by none other than Desi Arnaz and are great fun now. There's even a Flintstones animated ad for Winston cigarettes.

Happy Holidays, everyone, and light up!

The ironic thing about those commercials that today, giving a carton of cigarrettes as a gift is not as tacky and white trashy as it used to be.

By the way, if you think the cigarette commercial is bad, there is a NYS Lottery Holiday commercial currently running where I live that shows a woman buying a bunch of scratch off lottery tickets from a vendor named Manny, takes a few steps aways, stops, thinks, puts the tickets into a holiday envelope, then goes back and hands Manny a card, wishing him a Merry Christmas.
